Standpipe Installation

We currently have two options for the installation of standpipes:

Installation down the hole created by a CPT – this is done by hand and is reasonably effective but can be limited when the hole collapses.  The standpipe (26.7mm O.D. and 23.7mm ID) is installed with end caps and joiners as necessary.

Alternatively we can push a slightly larger size standpipe (34mm O.D., 30mm I.D.) into the ground (either down the CPT hole or in fresh ground) using a dummy tip.  This very effective method also allows for the standpipe to be installed with a geofabric sock covering the slotted sections of the pipe, alleviating the problem of fine grained material blocking the standpipe.  We have successfully pushed through up to 50MPa soil during an installation without any issues.

We can also retrieve water samples after the standpipe has been installed, or alternatively, the client can use our sampler to retrieve the samples while the rig continues working.
